Manchester City secured another Premier League title success last season, with Pep Guardiola’s men winning their third successive crown – but can they make it four in the 2023/24 campaign?
City edged out Arsenal earlier this year but Mikel Arteta’s side look set to put up a stiff challenge once again after splashing the cash in the summer transfer window. Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea will also fancy their chances of having a say this term.
With all of that excitement to look forward to over the next year, Paddy Power News has everything you need to know about the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Premier League key dates
The Premier League season will get underway on Friday,August 11, 2023 at Turf Moore as Championship winners Burnley host Manchester City. The campaign is scheduled to finish on Sunday,May 19, 2024.
Eagle-eyed readers will know that’s a week later than the start of the 2022/23 season, which was changed to accommodate the World Cup in Qatar.
Is there a winter break in the Premier League season?
We had a break in the 2022/23 campaign for the World Cup and while we don’t have another international tournament to think about, there is a winter break in the Premier League.
There will be no games between January 13-20 in 2024 following the always-hectic Christmas and New Year period.
However, no two rounds over that period will take place within 48 hours of each other.
When does the Premier League transfer window open and close?
The 2023 summer transfer window opened for business on Wednesday, June 14. English clubs can only do deals with one another until Saturday, July 1 when international transfers are allowed.
From that point there will be two months of wheeling and dealing until it slams shut at 11pm on Friday, September 1.
