A historic qualification campaign means Ireland are set to make their maiden appearance at the Women’s World Cup.
Supersub Amber Barrett’s second-half goal secured a crunch victory over Scotland in last year’s play-off match to seal the Girls in Green’s place in the tournament.
Vera Pauw’s side have been drawn in Group B and kick-off their against Australia, who share hosting duties with New Zealand. Olympic champions Canada and Nigeria complete the pool, with the top two set to progress to the last 16.
Ireland are not at full strength, however, as defenders Aoife Mannion and Megan Campbell, who play for Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, have been left out of the 23-player squad heading Down Under due to injury.
A couple of hard-fought defeats to the USA in the build up has not dampened hopes that Ireland can make a splash on their Women’s World Cup debut.
