But he’s also attracted headlines on the field by becoming the first player in history to score at five World Cups when netting against Ghana, as well as trying to nick one of Bruno Fernandes’ goals against Uruguay, before being dropped for the Switzerland match.

Portugal’s next match at the World Cup
Portugal progressed to the last eight of the World Cup by topping Group H before battering Switzerland in the last 16.
Cristiano Ronaldo was on the scoresheet in the 3-2 win against Ghana, Bruno Fernandes bagged a brace as Portugal secured a 2-0 victory over Uruguay, before the Euro 2016 winners suffered a 2-1 defeat to South Korea. Ronaldo was dropped for the Swiss match for his petulant reaction to being substituted against South Korea and his replacement, Goncalo Ramos, hit a hat-trick in the 6-1 rout.
Portugal’s reward for thrashing Switzerland is a last-eight fixture against Spain’s conquerers Morocco.
The match will take place at the Lusail Stadium on Saturday, December 10.

Morocco v Portugal will be the penultimate match to take place in the quarter-finals at Qatar 2022. The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.

Who could Portugal play in the World Cup semi-finals?
If Portugal beat Morocco they will face the winner of England v France. The semi-final fixture will take place at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on Wednesday, December 14. The tie is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT.
