Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will choose Aston Villa’s starting XI and their style of play when the two sides go head-to-head tomorrow night, Steven Gerrard has revealed.
It comes after Klopp’s scathing assessment of teams who refuse to allow Liverpool to win.
‘Jurgen’s picked an inexperienced side and will be giving 11 lads their debuts’, Gerrard told Paddy Power News.
‘He’s going with two at the back and no goalkeeper’.
‘Personally, I’d have preferred a goalie in me side but Jurgen’s the one who picks the team and I have to respect his decision’, added the 41-year-old.
Klopp was given power of attorney over all future opponents by the Premier League after he criticised Tottenham’s tactics and their manager Antonio Conte after the North London club’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday evening.
The German was furious with Conte who had the audacity to employ a defensive approach against a Liverpool side that has scored 87 goals in 35 league games this season.
‘I have a personal problem with teams that come to Anfield and don’t let us win’, an irate Klopp told Paddy Power News.
‘When teams won’t roll over and allow us to score 4 or 5 goals, I am sorry because I don’t like this kind of football’.
However, having been given the authority to select opposition players and which style of football they play, the 54-year-old is confident Liverpool will get back to winning ways against Villa.
‘I’ve demoted Philippe Coutinho and told him to go train with the under 12s’.
‘I can confirm Ollie Watkins will start – at left back’.

‘And Stevie’s been instructed to go absolutely gung-ho from the first whistle to the last’.
Meanwhile, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has apologised for saying ‘everyone in the country supports Liverpool’.
‘I’m sorry, I got confused. What I meant to say was there are no Man City fans in this country’, said the 51-year-old.
