Ah, yes. The January transfer window. Who doesn’t love it? A month of hype, speculation and chatter that inevitably ends with that veteran striker who hasn’t hit a barn door in the best part of a decade joining your goal-shy club on loan until the end of the season.

The 20 Premier League clubs will no doubt scour the New Year sales for a bargain buy to boost their hopes at either end of the table – and the scramble for signings kicks off when the clock ticks past midnight on January 1, 2022.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

A mad-dash month of speculation and gossip lies ahead and transfer fixers for Premier League, Championship and Scottish clubs have until 11pm GMT on Monday January 31 to get deals done.

Newcastle could well be the biggest spenders if they choose to dip into their Saudi Arabian money pit, and you’d expect them to be busy as they’re not exactly flying on the pitch this term.

Eddie Howe will need to tighten things up at the back if he’s to guide the world’s richest club to safety and avoid at least a year spent in the Championship. Lille’s rising star Sven Botman would fit the bill and he’s the favourite in our special betting market To Sign For Newcastle Before February 3, 2022.

That’s not to say Newcastle have only been linked with defenders. Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard would add an attacking spark, especially with the Toon needing offensive reinforcements with Callum Wilson facing another spell on the sidelines.

Old Trafford bigwigs could sanction a cut-price January exit to recoup some cash and, despite Newcastle’s wealth, a permanent return to West Ham is Lingard’s most likely destination, according to our traders.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been banished from the Arsenal squad of late by Mikel Arteta for disciplinary reasons and has been linked with a move to Barcelona. He still has 18 months left on his contract, however, and is odds-on to remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond the end of this window.
