Jadon Sancho to Man Utd transfer could harm Mason Greenwood – PAUL INCE

While welcoming the rumoured arrival of the Dortmund winger, Incey has a word of warning for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Paul Ince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

You’ve got to admire people like Jadon Sancho who have the bravery and courage to go out and play in Germany. There are not enough young kids doing that, you have people stuck in the Under 23s who just want to stay at their clubs because they’re not brave enough or don’t want to go and experience football abroad.

Players like Sancho and Jude Bellingham have made the leap and they’ve been rewarded by getting in the England squad. Sancho has been absolutely outstanding for Borussia Dortmund. That said, it’s difficult to compare the Bundesliga to the Premier League because Bayern and Dortmund are beating teams three or four-nil because they are so much better than the rest.

But, he’s a wonderful player. Sancho gets the ball, and he just wants to beat people. He reminds me of an Andrei Kanchelskis type of player, and he’s similar to Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

If Man United can get him it would be brilliant.

The only question that bothers me is where does Greenwood fit into it?

Does that stop his progress? I know Greenwood can play up front as a centre forward. But, is he a centre forward? I don’t think so.

We’ve seen Greenwood play on the right and we’ve seen what he does. So, does getting Sancho stop his progression? That’s the only concern for me, but that is down to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to decide. The Sancho transfer is taking its time, I don’t know what the hold-up is.

New striker the real problem

As much as we can go spending £75m, £80m on Sancho, the main issue should be getting a centre forward and we’ve not addressed that yet. That’s the concern.

I know Manchester City are after Harry Kane. Whether Man United will come in and try to sabotage that one, I’m not sure. But, it wouldn’t surprise me if they did.

We’ve seen enough over the course of last season at Manchester United that if they’re going to challenge the likes of City, Liverpool – who should have all their players back from injury – and Chelsea – who were fantastic at the end of last season – they need to get a centre forward and we’ve not addressed that yet.

It was nice to see him come on for England against Czech Republic because people are questioning, ‘why are we not bringing Sancho on? What’s happened?’

England were bringing other players on, but Sancho was left sitting on the bench so it was great for him to him get 10 minutes against the Czechs.
