All together now, “It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming, football’s coming home!” Nobody? Not one of you? Would a guaranteed minimum of €100,000 convince you to support England at Euro 2020?
Because that’s exactly what we’ll be donating to Irish grassroots football even if Gareth Southgate’s guys fire a blank at this summer’s soccer spectacle. And if they score a hatful it’s even better news for Irish fans because we’re donating €10,000 for every goal England score at the Euros.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
And, to celebrate Ireland’s representation at the tournament, we’ll double it to €20,000 for every goal our boys Jack Grealish and Declan Rice score. To help get everyone united behind the England cause we’ve erected a giant mural featuring the (former) Republic of Ireland players.
They may not be wearing the green jersey at the Euros, but at least they’re there, and if Declan Rice or Jack Grealish, score we will pay a ‘backstabber bonus’ in the form of €20k. We know deep down they wanted to help Irish football, think of this as an assist.
Taking centre stage on Dublin’s Fenian Street, our homage to Ireland’s representatives at Euro 2020 is emblazoned with our call to arms: “Come On You Boys In White”. The mural was created in conjunction with artist Shane Ha as part of our #SaveOurGame campaign which will be in clover should either Grealish or Rice manage to score during the tournament. But, frankly, we’d settle for old Slabhead bundling one in off his backside.
Last weekend, we planted a GIGANTIC England flag on a football pitch along our coastline to call on Irish football fans to support the Three Lions at the tournament. It’s all part of our pledge pledge to donate €10k to Irish football for every goal England score during the tournament – with a guaranteed €100k being handed out regardless of the performance of Southgate’s squad.
If you think your club could do with the cash, or if you know one who would, send us your story to saveourgame@paddypower.com or via Paddy Power’s social media channels explaining what you need the money for and why. You must be over 18 to get in touch. Send over your images and videos so the social lads and lasses really get the picture.
Paddy’s partisan panel will decide where the money goes and how it will be divvied up based on merit. It could be your club that gets part, or all of our cash.
So, shall we try again? “It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming, football’s coming home!”
That’s better. Come On You Boys In White!
