Paddy’s Hall of Fame: Punter nails 9-leg £16,000 acca as Madrid & Inter fightbacks save bet

This acca is just ridiculous

Paddy Power was left reeling on Monday morning after one lucky punter pulled off an outrageous nine-fold accumulator over the weekend to walk away with more than £16,000.

The Dagenham-based footie fan held their nerve to turn a £15 stake into a grand total of £16,823 at staggering odds of 1,121/1 – which is even more impressive considering some of the frankly obscure sides involved.

The latest member of our Hall of Fame actually only committed to their nine-fold punt after a number of games had already kicked off, with five bets placed while matches were in progress.

The first of these, a Brazilian Serie D clash between Cabofriense and Mirassol, offered an odds-on return if Cabofriense won and the home side duly delivered with a comfortable 3-1 victory.

Elsewhere, Botev Plovdiv caused an upset in the Bulgarian top-flight to see off Levski Sofia 2-1 – although the bet was placed at odds of 3/5 with the underdogs already ahead.

And our lucky punter backed Cork City Women to beat Wexford Youths Women in-game at odds of 6/5 while they also boosted their return by betting AD Limianos would see out their 1-0 lead over Braganca in the first round of the Taca de Portugal.

For the final in-game bet of the acca, Benfica also came through on a Correct Score bet of 2-0 against Moreirense at odds of 21/10, which was a bold shout considering The Eagles scored five goals in their first game of the season last week.

Meanwhile, FC Rukh Brest were backed to beat Slutsk in the Belarussian Premier League and, although priced at just 51/100, the comfortable 5-0 victory banked another leg on the ninefold parley and set things up nicely for three high-profile clashes on the betslip.

With Real Madrid backed to beat Real Betis and Both Teams To Score at 23/10, our Dagenham daredevil would have been sweating to see Los Blancos trailing 2-1 at half-time.

However, Zinedine Zidane’s side drew level shortly after the break thanks to an Emerson own-goal while a comeback victory was on the cards when the Brazilian was sent off with 20 minutes remaining.

Real made hard work of things but eventually found the breakthrough with the aid of a VAR-awarded penalty and a Sergio Ramos Panenka after 82 minutes, keeping the nine-fold dream alive.

And there was similar drama in Serie A with Inter Milan coming from behind twice to eventually beat Fiorentina 4-3.

Our Hall of Famer needed a win for Antonio Conte’s side and Both Teams To Score at 9/5, but was made to wait until the dying seconds with goals from Romelu Lukaku and Danilo D’Ambrosio snatching victory from the jaws of defeat inside the final three minutes at the San Siro.

That left just one leg remaining on the most unbelievable of bets, with Southampton needing to triumph over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday night to complete the acca.

And Saints hotshot Danny Ings didn’t disappoint, bagging the only goal of the game to secure victory at a price of 6/5 and complete one of the most exhilarating bets we’ve ever seen.

With a ridiculous selection involving games from Brazil, Belarus and Bulgaria combining to produce odds of 1,121/1, it’s no wonder our bean counters were left stunned when the victorious customer claimed their winnings.

All we can do is say “well done and welcome to our Punting Hall of Fame!”
