Inter finished their league season very strongly as they tried in vain to chase down eventual Serie A winners Juventus. Their biggest problem during the season had been a leaky defence but after the return to play it all seemed to click and over their eight final matches they only conceded in three of them.

Indeed they ended up with the lowest number of goals conceded in the league. Over the league campaign they scored 2.13 goals and conceded 0.95 per match on average.

Shakhtar scored 2.50 and conceded 0.81 goals over their league campaign this season and noth of these teams were knocked out of the Champions League groups stages in December so there’s plenty of stats to compare here.

Inter have scored 17 goals over 10 matches, conceding 11. Shakhtar scored 22 and conceded 19 over their 11 matches. As we can see their low concession rates don’t carry over into European competition.

Inter obviously come into this as hot favourites but the Ukranian side never go down without a fight and can take on the best of anybody on their day. Both Teams to Score looks like a given with two teams with such good goal scoring stats.

He’s been playing incredibly this season and if anyone can fire Inter into a European final it’s going to be the Belgian.
