Football tips: A delightful double for Tuesday’s Serie A action

Serie A action is coming thick and fast despite Juventus wrapping up the league title.

Juventus finally got their act together over the weekend and landed the Serie A title, their 36th in total, and 11th since the turn of the century. An incredible achievement, surely now with his win bonus pocketed Cristiano Ronaldo can afford to get his first post-Lockdown haircut.

Regardless of Juve winning the title, both Atalanta and Inter play on Tuesday night and while they’ve already qualified for the Champions League next season, they’ll both want to finish as high as possible. Can a free-scoring Parma dent Atalanta’s hopes? And with Napoli desperate for European football, maybe they’ll force Inter to drop points. More importantly, is there value to be found in the betting markets?

6.30pm – Parma vs Atalanta: Atalanta to Win & BTTS

Parma are a strange one. Prior to the pandemic they’d been in decent form and when play returned they took four points from six. Then things fell apart, proceeding to go on a run of seven matches where they only picked up one point. Out-and-out relegation form there but they’d enough points banked to ride it out. Since then they’ve won their two most recent fixtures.

Parma have played 11 league matches since the return and we’re written about their good goal scoring run on these pages before, BTTS and Over 2.5 goals bets have landed in 11 and 10 matches respectively.  Atalanta are the highest-scoring team in the league with 96 goals to their name. The last time they didn’t score in the league was back in November, a run of 24 matches.

The market is very much favouring Atalanta here but with Parma finding the back of the net over their 11 most previous matches surely they’ll get another here. Add to this the fact that the away side are conceding 1.17 goals per match on their Serie A travels and the odds on Atalanta to Win & Both Teams to Score look very generous indeed.

8.45pm – Inter vs Napoli: Both Teams to Score

Over Inter’s 11 matches since the return to play they’ve only lost one. From a possible 33 points attainable they chalked up 22, drawing far too many matches and letting Juventus grab the title.

It’s a similar story for Napoli, they’ve played one less match though, scoring 20 points and even though their form has been good it looks like the damage caused during the first part of the season has left them chasing shadows trying desperately to get into the European places as the games pass by.

A win here though would see them overtake AC Milan in the final Europa League place, but it must be said that over their 10 most recent visits to the San Siro to play Inter Napoli have only won on three occasions. Inter have won four and three have ended in draws. Interestingly only four of those 10 matches saw Over 2.5 goals landing and BTTS occurred in just three.

Both teams are in good goal scoring form coming into the match though and with the onus on the away side to attack we think BTTS is the safest option in the match that’s incredibly tough to call.
