Monday night sees league leaders Juventus going up against Lazio at home.
A win for the Old Lady will put further distance between themselves and the chasing pack. Both teams though are in the middle of a wobble, can either get back to winning ways?
Let’s have a look for some value in the betting markets.
With six matches to go Juventus can pull away from the chasing pack with a win here. At the time of writing they’re six points ahead of Inter in second, seven ahead of Atalanta and eight ahead of Lazio, with both Atalanta and Inter playing over the weekend.
Juventus have dropped the ball of late, drawing two and losing one over their three most recent matches and have allowed both Inter and Atalanta back into the mix.
They are scoring plenty though, with eight goals to their name over those matches and their normally squeaky-clean clean sheets home record has slipped and they’ve conceded three over their two most recent home matches.
Lazio have beaten the Old Lady twice already this season, but their form is pretty bad of late having lost three and drawn one of their last four. However, they’ve scored 10 goals over their seven most recent away matches and are more than good enough to get at least one.
Six out of six previous Juventus matches have ended with Over 3.5 goals, so they’ve been in incredibly good goalscoring form and have been conceding plenty as well.
None of Lazio’s five most recent have seen Over 3.5 goals, but four have seen Over 2.5 goals.
Add to this that two out of three recent meetings between the pair in all competitions have seen Over 3.5 goals landing as well and those odds for Over 3.5 goals certainly represent decent value.
Now the safe bet here is Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime, he’s scored seven in seven matches since the restart, is Juve’s penalty taker and has two from four matches against Lazio.
However, with manager Maurizio Sarri putting Gonzalo Higuain back in the lineup for last week’s 3-3 away draw with Sassuolo and needing goals here, we believe he’ll start the big Argentine here too.
The former Real Madrid and Napoli striker has 13 goals in 18 appearances against Lazio over his career and we’ll be backing him to add another to his impressive tally against the Romans.
