Things are heating up in the race for the Premier League.

Brentford v Wigan: Brentford (-1)

Brentford are probably the last team you would want to face while your club is in turmoil, but that is exactly where Wigan find themselves. Having just extracted themselves from the relegation battle, it seems as though the Latics will be thrust right back into the deep end after they entered administration.

Wigan and Brentford are the two in-form sides in the division, with both teams recording three wins from three since the restart without conceding a goal.

Even if they are deducted 12 points, Wigan stand a great chance of survival due to their favourable run in, but they will struggle to pick up anything on Saturday.

Brentford have beaten Fulham and West Brom since competitive action resumed to give their automatic promotion hopes a real chance. They will look to continue their excellent form with a win on Saturday and there is no reason why they can’t win their remaining six games and put real pressure on the top two.

The Bees are simultaneously the highest scorers in the division and the best defensive team, and it’s hard to see anything but a comfortable home win.

Blackburn v Leeds: Leeds to win

It would be a very Leeds thing to do if Marcelo Bielsa’s men were to shoot themselves in the foot and drop out of the automatic promotion places, but surely they will stay the course and clinch a spot in the top two.

Last week’s huge win over Fulham seems like a distant memory following the uninspired home draw with Luton and they now face yet more anxious moments before they secure their place in the Premier League.

Those anxious moments will only intensify if Brentford score early on Saturday and threaten to close the gap even further. They simply have to beat a Blackburn side that hasn’t won in two games against relegation-threatened clubs and now looks like an outside bet to make the top six.

It will be painfully nervous, but Leeds should eek out a vital win.

Bristol City v Cardiff City: Cardiff to win

Fair play to Bristol City’s players, because it seems like they have collectively decided not to bother turning up for the rest of the season and prepare for next year.

It is staggering to think that Bristol returned to Championship life in seventh place and just one point off the top six.

After three defeats on the bounce, their play-off hopes have all but disappeared in a puff of smoke and their season seems to be drifting towards an unsatisfying conclusion.

Cardiff, on the other hand, have been excellent and have collected seven points from nine since the restart. They are now the frontrunners to take sixth place and will look to keep that momentum going with a win against Bristol.

It would be surprising if Bristol managed to take something from this one.
