It has been a week of uncertainties. La La Land or Moonlight? Do I order Chinese or Pizza? Will Steve McClaren ever shave that little patch at the front of his head?
Some of those questions will go unanswered, but one thing for sure is that Arsenal fans are calling for Wenger’s head, and the Liverpool game could be crucial.
Should I Stay or Should I Go?
The Gunners have had over a week’s break since beating non-league Sutton in the FA Cup, but Wenger’s future is still a talking point as they head into the crucial stage of the season.
After a humiliating 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich a couple of weeks ago, The Frenchman went odds-on to be gone by next season for the first time. The Wenger Out brigade were very much back, the banners were drawn and social media was on fire. After 20 years at the helm, but without a Premier League trophy in 14 years, fans have had enough.
Alexis Sanchez, who is Arsenal’s top goal scorer for the season and is on track for the Golden Boot, is also 5/2 to leave at the end of the year, with PSG and Manchester City favourites to be his next club… It’s looking like a mass exodus out of North London.
Four is the magic number
As the battle for a top four spot heats up quicker than a David Haye press conference, just one point separates Liverpool (fifth) from The Gunners who teeter on the edge of the Champions League places (fourth). If they do not qualify, it would be the first time they failed to do so since Wenger joined in 1996.
Liverpool are the favourites to snatch the crucial three points, priced at evens. Arsenal are 13/5 to do the business and avenge The Reds’ 4-3 victory on the opening day of the season. It’s a whopping 125/1 for a repeat of that scoreline tomorrow night.
With 13 goals hitting the net in the last two meetings between these sides, we’re hoping for a thriller. Over 3.5 goals is 2/1 and if it lands, the drinks are on us.
