Pep Guardiola’s “No sex after midnight” rule helped Messi at Barcelona – Samir Nasri

The Manchester City loanee claims a sex ban got the best out of Lewandowski and Messi

Samir Nasri, who is currently on a season-long loan at Sevilla, says that Pep Guardiola has certain rules which benefitted his players at Barcelona and are now in force at the The Etihad.

In a tell-all interview with L’Equipe du Soir, he said:

[Sexual] Relations must be before midnight. Even if you have a free day the following day.

“He told us this is how he managed to get the best out of [Lionel] Messi and [Robert] Lewandowski, and for them to avoid the maximum number of muscular injuries. It’s so you can get a good night’s sleep.”

These unorthodox methods come a month or so after Pablo Zabaleta revealed the gaffer had banned Wi-Fi at City’s training ground in order to create a greater team bond, and er, probably to stop them arranging post-midnight trysts.

The former Arsenal man went on to reveal how Guardiola felt he was overweight and forced him to go on a weight loss programme before joining Sevilla.

“Guardiola told me that I was a mess, he told me several times and even kicked me in the butt, literally,”

“When I returned from holiday having had a year out with injury problems and personal life problems, I was a little out of shape.

“Not as much as what was said but a few, maybe, four kilos overweight. For Guardiola, over 2.5 kilos and you do not you train with the group.”

So, according to Nasri. Guardiola’s philosophies include no shagging before the watershed and definitely no pies. Sounds a laugh.
