It’s been an epic World Darts Championship with a brand new champion crowned and a star of the future emerging.
And to get into the spirit of all things bright and wonderful, Paddy’s decided to up our Prostate Cancer UK donation to a round £1m!
If you don’t know what we’re on about, where have you been?
Paddy Power pledged to give £1k to PCUK for every 180 hit at the World Championship in one of the biggest charity partnerships in the history of the sport.
And after Luke Humphries and Luke Littler smashed in 36 180s between them in the final last night, the overall tally stood a record 914.
It’s good, and sets a new record after beating last year’s previous best of 901, but it just didn’t feel quite right.
But £1m does.
So that’s exactly what we’ve done, topping up the total by £86k, and that cash donation will soon be whizzing its way over to Prostate Cancer UK.
A great tournament deserves a great donation.
So we’re rounding up the 914 180s scored at the tournament and donating £1 MILLION to @prostateUK!#WCDarts | @officialpdc pic.twitter.com/a62L6TaVap

The campaign, in partnership with the PDC, sought to drive men towards Prostate Cancer UK’s 30-second online risk checker tool and raise awareness of the fact that 1 in 8 men are diagnosed with the disease which is curable if caught early.
More than 90,000 men have checked their risk during the tournament – five times more than the same period last year.
New World No.1 and Champion of the World Humphries has not only risen to the summit of the game, but is also the proud owner of the inaugural Ballon d’Art trophy.
The prestigious and humongous Ballon d’Art was presented to Cool Hand at the Alexandra Palace after he banged in the most 180s of all players – that’s 73 maximums, btw – taking part at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship and, thus, raised the most cash for PCUK through our The BIG 180 campaign.
The award meant all the more for Humphries, whose partner’s dad had been diagnosed with the disease. He too has pledged to make his own donation to the cause.
“My father-in-law has battled prostate cancer, he went and got it checked out early, so this is a close thing to my heart,” he said. “I will be dedicating that one to him.
“For me to have added £73,000 is just fantastic. It is very, very close to my heart and as a collective the players have added quite a lot of money, I won’t say the figure, but I am going to donate a bit from my prize money as well.”
It’s not too late to play your part in the Big 180 campaign.
