7.15pm: Mansell v Robb – Mansell to Win
The first game of the tournament is Mickey Mansell of Northern Ireland against New Zealand’s Ben Robb. Robb has played in a couple World Championships in the past and on both occasions he fell at the very first hurdle.
Mansell’s got the experience to win this, having made it to the second round on a couple of occasions in the past. Mansell should Win this.
8.15pm: Barry v Sampson – Barry to Win 3-0
The banker of the night for many is for Ireland’s Keane Barry to get the better of Grant Sampson.
Barry got to the second round last year and he reached the semi finals of the UK Open earlier this year and Sampson is a debutant so it should be a matter of how far Barry can go here. It’s Barry to win 3-0 in this one.
9.15pm: Wattimena v Rafferty – Wattimena to Win
The last leg of our treble is the Netherlands’ Jermaine Wattimena to beat Nathan Rafferty of Northern Ireland. Wattimena, again, has the experience to win this and he’s got past the first round on a couple of occasions. While Rafferty has played well in a couple of tournaments over the last few years, he should struggle and Wattimena is the most likely winner here.
So our first treble to kick off the 2023 World Darts Championship is Mickey Mansell, Keane Barry and Jermaine Wattimena all to Win on Thursday night.
