Darts Tips: Our best bets for the PDC World Darts semi finals tonight

We're down to the final four at the Ally Pally after a big shock last night with MvG sent packing.

Red hot Dave Chisnall thrashed Mighty Michael van Gerwen 5-0 to book his place in the PDC World Darts Championship semi finals against Gary Anderson yesterday who himself cruised past Dutch aubergine farmer Dirk van Duijvenbode 5-1.

The other semi sees the lowest remaining seed Stephen Bunting take on the highest in the shape of Gerwyn Price who had to go all the way to make it past ‘Super Chin’ Daryl Gurney 5-4 in the quarters. To guide us through the final four, Chris Hammer from Sporting Life delivers his best bets, tips, preview and predictions for Saturday night’s action.

6pm: Stephen Bunting v Gerwyn Price – Bunting to Win 6-5

This match loooks like it will be a lot closer than the odds suggest. Stephen Bunting’s worked hard on the practice board and with sports psychologists in an attempt to turn his career around and it looks to be paying dividends.

Bunting, who frequently mentions how much confidence his new Target darts have given him, has also been revelling in the role of being the outsider, saying: “I’ve looked at the bookies’ odds [before the quarter-finals]. I was the total outsider for the whole event, which was great for me. I know I’m playing well, I know what I can do. Let people write me off at their own peril, because I’m here to win this. I’m not here to make the numbers up.”

Gerwyn Price has not looked the same formidable force during his road to the semi-finals as he’s looked for large periods of the season and the Bullet will hold no fears.

I’m going for Bunting to win 6-5 after going the distance – just has he has in the last two rounds and an unlikely but well deserved place in the final.

8pm: Dave Chisnall v Gary Anderson – Chisnall to Win 6-4

Apart from a bit of a rant following his bizarre battle with Mensur Suljovic on Monday, Gary Anderson has cruised into his sixth World Championship semi-final with very little fuss. The Flying Scotsman has also shown very little sign of the injuries or consistency issues that had led him to repeatedly ‘write off’ the season.

He’ll certainly need to be clinical with the chances he gets tonight, especially if Dave Chisnall continues to pile on the pressure with his astounding rate of scoring. He stunned Michael van Gerwen last night and with the form he’s in he could be too hot for Anderson to handle.

If Chizzy is anywhere near the level he showed yesterday I’m expecting he’ll secure a place in tomorrow’s final. Anderson is insisting he’s not at the level where he’s been at his best so I’m plumping for Chisnall to win 6-4.
