£50,000 Champions League nine-dart purse will go to fans, not players

If you haven’t heard Paddy Power are sponsoring the Champions League this weekend and we’ve decided to make the action even more exciting...

As part of Paddy Power’s sponsorship of the upcoming Champions League of Darts, they have announced a special twist to the nine-dart finish prize fund.

Usually, the purse for a player hitting a nine-darter goes straight into their own pocket. But, in a world first, we’re giving the cash back to those attending the event.

There will be £50,000 shared between the members of the crowd in the session where the perfect finish is hit for the first time in Brighton on September 22-23.*

Gary Anderson, who hit a nine-dart finish at the World Matchplay last July, said: “I like the idea of giving something away to the fans that come and support you. To hit the nine-darter, and know it’s being spread among the crowd is a nice touch.

“But, they’ll definitely owe me a coffee – or something stronger – at the end of the night if I manage it!”

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “We liked the idea of flipping the nine-darter bonus on its head, and giving something back to the loyal fans who travel to see the darts – it gives them even more reason to cheer the players on.”

“It’s a world first we’re glad to be stumping up the cash for.”
