Pakistan to Win

When these sides met at the 2019 World Cup, Shaheen Shah Afridi (3-28 in 10 overs) and Babar Azam (101*) were the match-winners as Pakistan won by 6 wickets. In 2023 they have faced each other in eight One Day Internationals (ODIs), with Pakistan winning five.

Both Shaheen and Babar will be available on Saturday, while New Zealand will be desperately trying to stop their run of three successive defeats. We don’t see that happening however, we’re backing Pakistan to Win.

Fakhar Zaman Over 31.5 Runs

Fakhar Zaman has been outstanding against New Zealand recently. In the eight meetings between the two sides this year, Fakhar has averaged 74, scoring three hundreds along the way – including a huge 180*. He is likely to carry on this form against the Black Caps and score over 31.5 runs.

(31.5)

New Zealand's Kane Williamson v Pakistan

Pakistan Higher Score after 15 Overs

In their first six games in the tournament, Pakistan started their innings slowly and cautiously, attacking only 32% of deliveries faced in the first 20 overs – the lowest of all teams, and hit just six 6s.

However, against Bangladesh, when Fakhar made his comeback, Pakistan’s attacking shot percentage increased to 65% and they hit seven sixes. With Fakhar back at the top of the order, alongside Abdullah Shafique who is also aggressive, Pakistan could have the higher score after 15 overs.

Trent Boult to be Topp New Zealand Wicket-Taker

As alluded to in a previous tip, Trent Boult is very good against right-handers, and Pakistan had six of them in their top eight against Bangladesh. In ODIs Boult averages 22.29 against right-handers, and goes at only 4.88 runs per over.

The Chinnaswamy Stadium has favoured seam bowling this tournament – in the two matches held there so far seamers are averaging 26 with 23 wickets, while the spinners are averaging 56 with just six wickets (the least among all venues).

Considering his proven ability against right-handers, and with help from the surface, Boult to be New Zealand’s top-wicket taker.

Rachin Ravindra to be Top New Zealand Run-Scorer

Rachin Ravindra has been one of the breakout stars of the World Cup. Before the tournament the batter averaged 23.62 in eight ODI innings.

However in India Ravindra has averaged 69.16 with two centuries and two fifties in seven innings. He is the team’s top run-scorer and scores his runs quicker than anyone else in the NZ top order – he has also hit more sixes than any other NZ batter. Ravindra to be New Zealand’s top run-scorer.
