Western Conference Finals Game 2
Series score: Mavericks 1-0 Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves to Win
It didn’t go to plan for the third seed Minnesota Timberwolves at home against the fifth-placed Dallas Mavericks in game one of the Western Conference Finals, with the away side running out 108-105 winners at Target Center.
The Timberwolves came into Wednesday’s clash on the back of their gruelling game seven victory over the Denver Nuggets, last year’s champs, and we’re expecting Anthony Edwards and Co. to bounce back in game two.
Minnesota have to put in a performance in front of their home fans to avoid going 2-0 down in the series so we’re backing Timberwolves to Win, despite Dallas’ brilliant game one victory.
Jaden McDaniels Over 12.5 Points
Edwards is Minnesota’s main man and while we fancy him to put on a show in game two after putting up just 19 earlier this week, there’s value in backing Jaden McDaniels to Have Over 12.5 Points.
McDaniels is more known for his defence as we know after his inclusion in the 2023-24 NBA All-Defensive Second Team, however, he’s been aggressive going forward in the last few games.
The 23-year-old finished with 24 points in game one against the Mavericks and he put up 23 and 21 in the final two outings against Denver in the Timberwolves’ last series.
McDaniels has shot 9-15, 7-10 and 8-10 in his last three games while making 12 of his 18 three pointers. He’s hot at the moment so we’ll ride the wave.
Luka Doncic Over 28.5 Points
Luka Doncic, who won the NBA scoring title this season, is Dallas’ star man and he put up 33 points in game one in Minnesota.
The Slovenian is averaging 27.7 points per game in the play-offs after putting up 33.9 points per outing in the regular season.
Doncic is unstoppable on the offensive end and he’s even harder to get in front of with Kyrie Irving alongside him in the backcourt. Doncic to Have Over 28.5 Points is an obvious pick.
Kyrie Irving Over 23.5 Points
Irving put up 30 points in game one in Minnesota and the 2016 NBA champion knows when he’s needed and he steps up every time.
The point guard shot just over 50 per cent from the field in game one and he’s too crafty to not get to his spots. It also helps that he’s one of the best shotmakers in the league.
Irving was in a groove on Wednesday night and we’re expecting that to continue as he looks to help Dallas close in on making the Finals.
Dereck Lively To Record 8+ Rebounds
Dereck Lively has been one of Dallas’ X-Factors in the play-offs this season and the big man has been putting in effort on the glass in recent games.
Lively, 20, grabbed 11 rebounds in game one while going up against Rudy Gobert, who was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year as well as averaging just under 13 rebounds per game in the regular season.
Lively’s 11 boards followed his 15 and 10 boards in the final two games of the Oklahoma City Thunder series. Expect more of the same on Friday night.
