The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Dallas Mavericks in game one of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night and we’ve got a Bet Builder in mind.
The Timberwolves finished as the No. 3 seed in the west but Anthony Edwards and Co. have been brilliant in the play-offs, with Minnesota sweeping the Phoenix Suns 4-0 before beating last year’s champs the Denver Nuggets in a thrilling seven-game series.
It won’t be smooth sailing for the Timberwolves in this series, with the Mavericks beating the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder 4-2 in the last round, however, we expect Minnesota to get the job done in front of their fans at Target Center.
Minnesota won game seven in Denver and they’ll be full of confidence as they welcome Dallas. The Timberwolves will want to assert their dominance and utilise home court advantage. We’re on Timberwolves -2.5 on the Handicap market.
Anthony Edwards To Score 25+ Points
Edwards is the man. He talks the talk and he walks the walk. He’s in the conversation to become the next face of the NBA and despite being only 22 years old, he’s the leader on this Minnesota team.
Edwards averaged just under 26 points per game in the regular season but he’s upped it in the play-offs, with the guard averaging 28.9 points per outing, while also averaging 6.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
He only put up 16 points in the Timberwolves’ game seven win against the Nuggets, with Edwards shooting 6-24 from the field and 2-10 from three point land. He demands more from himself so expect him to come out and put on a show in his first Western Conference appearance.
Naz Reid To Score 10+ Points
Naz Reid, like Mike Conley, is one of Minnesota’s X-Factors and we like the look of the former To Score 10+ Points.
Reid is silky and savvy when shooting and getting in and around the rim so he can cause the Mavericks a few headaches, especially with all eyes likely being on Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.
The 24-year-old averaged just under 14 points per game in the regular season and he’s put up 10 points in five of his last seven games.
Luka Doncic To Score 25+ Points, Record 8+ Assists and Record 8+ Rebounds
We’ve spoken enough about Minnesota and if the Mavericks are going to reach the NBA Finals, they will be relying heavily on Luka Doncic.
The 25-year-old is also in the conversation to be the new face of the league and with the addition of Kyrie Irving alongside him in the backcourt, Doncic has been sensational.
Irving also draws eyes and puts fear into defenders which often leaves Doncic left open. There’s also the fact that Irving is a clutch shotmaker so it helps Doncic’s assist numbers.
We like the look of Luka Doncic To Score 25+ Points, Record 8+ Assists and Record 8+ Rebounds.
Doncic won the NBA scoring title this regular season and he’s averaging 27.2 points per game in the play-offs. Him getting points isn’t an issue as he plays the game at his own pace and there isn’t a defender in the league that can speed him up.
In terms of the assists and rebounds, Doncic is leading the Mavericks in both categories – as well as points – with 9.1 assists and 9.7 rebounds per game.
The Slovenian truly does it all and we’ve gone slightly below his play-off average just to play it safe.
