You probably have to hide your love of wrestling these days like a dirty little secret, but we promise there’s no judgement here at Power Tower. With the 2021 Royal Rumble event right around the corner on Sunday, we’ve decided to have a look at the worst people ever to compete in the famous 30-man (and now woman) match.
There’s plenty of terrible entrants out there, but in no particular order we’ve narrowed it down to these 10.

DREW CAREY – 2001
Remember him? Carey, once the biggest comedy star in the world, was convinced by Mr McMahon to enter the Royal Rumble match. It wasn’t long before he ran into a rampant Kane and quickly exited stage right. To be fair to Carey, we would have done the same thing if we were faced by The Big Read Machine.
Vickie Guerrero – 2018
Given that there’s only ever been three Woman’s Royal Rumble in WWE history, you’ll have to EXCUSE us for only have two entry from the female side of things. While Vickie Guerrero will certainly go down as an iconic authority figure and deserved her moment, she really had no business in the Royal Rumble match and was swiftly dumped out by every woman in the ring at the time.
TITUS O’NEIL – 2018
Okay, hands up, this one didn’t actually take place at the Royal Rumble PPV. However, it did happen in an actually Royal Rumble match and we just had to include it. During the Greatest Royal Rumble special in Saudi Arabia poor Titus O’Neil had to sprint to the ring given the obscenely long entrance ramp. Unfortunately for Titus, he would accidentally catch his foot on the outside mat and hilariously send himself flying under the ring. He became an instant viral hit because of the incident and has never lived it down since.
Sheamus – 2018
While we love the big guy from Dublin here in Power Tower more than a pint of Guinness from O’Shea’s in Clonskeagh (remember pints?), the 2018 Royal Rumble wasn’t his finest hour. Amazingly, Sheamus who actually won the Royal Rumble Match 2012 only last TWO seconds in this one. Poor Heath Slater had been battered on his way to the ring earlier in the night and just couldn’t seem to get himself into the match. Sheamus thought he’d give his fellow redhead a hand, but swiftly found himself eliminated on his birthday of all days!
THE GREAT KHALI – 2010
Honestly, can you believe this guy is a former World Heavyweight champion? Anyway, that aside he makes the list after being tricked into being elimination by Beth Pheonix, who was only the second woman in history to enter the Men’s Royal Rumble match.
MICHAEL COLE – 2012
Why waste a spot for commentator? Yes, The Voice of the WWE was in the middle of a heel run in 2012 and wriggled his way into the Rumble. Thankfully, the huge Karma wasn’t long seeing him and that horrible orange singlet off. Stick to the commentary booth Cole!
THE BRIAN KENDRICK – 2009
By his own admission, The Brian Kendrick will tell you he made a balls of his first WWE run and HHH wasted no time trying to get rid of him during the 2009 Rumble – although, ‘The Man with a Plan’ couldn’t even get that right at the time. He’s back now these days much the wiser and a former Cruiserweight champ to boot.
THE WARLORD – 1989
For 20 long years, his proud (we suppose) record of spending the shortest time in the match stood at two seconds after being thrown out by Hulk Hogan. Nothing is forever in the WWE (just ask the Undertaker). You can see his elimination briefly at 3.06.
Liv Morgan – 2019 & 2020
We don’t have a specific incident to point to here, but this one is all down to performance. There have only been three Women’s Royal Rumble matches , and Liv Morgan has been in all over them. In her first outing back in 2018, she clocked a respectable 5 minutes and 12 seconds in the match before being eliminated.
But, her showings since have been nothing short of shambolic. Morgan lasted just 8 seconds in 2019 and followed that up by only managing 44 seconds last year. To add insult to injury, she was thrown out by Lana – of all people – in 2020 to boot. That means she’s only survived for 52 seconds in the last two years combined! We expect better from you in 2021 Liv…
SANTINO MARELLA – 2009
Amazingly, Santino has the distinction of having the shortest stint in the history of the Royal Rumble (one second officially, although it’s up for debate) and being in the final two of the second largest Rumble in history. You learn something new everyday.
