It seems as if someone (wink wink, nudge nudge, it was us) has daubed a poor unfortunate polar bear with a St George’s Cross and a lovely green ‘PP’ logo.
Personally, we think it’s a bit of a work of art, something of which Banksy would be rightly proud were he/they brave enough to pull it off. I mean, imagine the guts it takes to approach a REAL polar bear like that – and yes, it IS a real bear.
But according to some, the footage is not just ‘shocking’, but also ‘disgusting’ and awful. You be the judge:
It’s time to show the Russians we have some nerve too. England ‘til I dye. pic.twitter.com/HLdlparxra

Unsurprisingly, the video proved to be ‘polarising’, with some of social media’s more ‘passionate’ animal lovers quick to pour scorn on poor old Paddy (for some reason).
Nice message on a species that is dying out 🤷♀️ Why not use a polar bear holding an England flag? Instead of "spray painting" an animal 👀 maybe I just haven't had my coffee yet but this is dumb advertising…👀 #paddypower #polarbear pic.twitter.com/qohYVfGnAG

“It’ll wash off” …. @paddypower. Your marketing team have completely miss the mark on this advert. Prank or not, it’s a disgrace. How is this even a response? Want me to come and spray you without your permission? pic.twitter.com/zx1f9QHn5b

Actually Joseph, looks like it’ll be hard to miss that mark…
Oh Paddy, what have you done. It looks like a target on the side of the bear. The animal rights lot are gonna be after you today. What odds that Paddy gets so much Shi* today ? @paddypower pic.twitter.com/xosTaw4L9M

It’s disgusting! It’s pro-hunting, it’s pro-world cup and we should be sooooooo against it because of it being in Russia. Not only because if their anti-gay laws but because they’re dangerous and corrupt over everything!

Ah well. You can’t please everyone, can you?
Anyway, that paint will wash off, eventually.
