13:55 Be Here Now
Mutasawi can confirm Kempton placings with Soldiers Design and he’s high on the list on his handicap debut with cheekpieces a possible source of improvement. Split The Profit flew home here on his penultimate start and will be involved with a repeat while Whogoesthere’s best 2yo form gives him a shout on his AW debut too. The safest option looks to be BE HERE NOW, however, with Nigel Tinkler’s 3yo having overcome a troubled run to beat a thriving rival at Newcastle 19 days ago.
14:30 Sonic Si
The experience gained by Deal Maker when making a successful debut over C&D 11 days ago is invaluable, but it’s hard to know what the form adds up to, so with a penalty to carry it may be worth taking her on with SONIC SI. The stable had an impressive (and well-backed) 2yo go in first time at Wolverhampton last week. Market support for him would make him even more interesting.
15:05 Rodborough
All five runners can have their case argued but these conditions bring out the best in RODBOROUGH and she is fancied to record her fourth C&D success. Hurt You Never is better than she showed last time but the biggest threat to the selection may come from Alpine Girl now she’s got a run behind her.
15:40 Road To Wembley (NAP)
Most of these appear to have better days ahead of them but it’s still impossible to go against fast-improving ROAD TO WEMBLEY (NAP), who spreadeagled his field at Lingfield last week and looks well in under a 6lb penalty. Course winner Attila The Honey could emerge as the chief threat ahead of handicap debutants Timetobenice and Path To Dubai.
16:15 Lion Tower
How Impressive was in fine form on the AW (including a win over C&D) before a lesser effort at Lingfield last time and it would come as no surprise were he to bounce back. Mustajaab made a successful return from a similar absence over C&D last spring so is another worthy of respect, but the vote goes to LION TOWER who ended up well held in the Spring Mile but had previously gone down narrowly off this mark at Newcastle. That performance was probably even better than it looked.
16:50 Savy Brilliance
Sean Woods’ course winner SAVVY BRILLIANCE was carrying all before him when last seen so this lightly raced 4yo is taken to return from a break in style and rattle up his four-timer. C&D scorer Churchella is feared most, especially if not scuppering the start, while both Dark Mystery and El Borracho can’t be discounted either.
17:23 Many A Star
All nine runners have something to recommend them in a competitive race for the grade. Whenthedealinsdone should be making an impact at this level and his latest Lingfield run was a step back in the right direction so he’s high on the list, whle veterans Gulliver and Airshow also come right into the reckoning. The unexposed Kandy King can improve for a drop in trip but the two to appeal most are the in-form Westmorian and topweight MANY A STAR. The former comes here in top form and has conditions to suit but this is a slight ease in grade for the selection who wasn’t seen to best effect here two weeks ago and who could benefit from a return to more positive tactics.
