Forgiven a disappointing run in a bumper after a long absence, Silver King will be hard to beat if reproducing last winter’s hurdles form but QUARRY ROCCO ran a lovely race on hurdling debut in a good maiden at Galway and is from a yard in cracking form.
15:10 – Welleef
A decent handicap but SAMUI (nap) could be a touch above this level and he can boost the form of Mystical Power’s Galway race. Luminous Light looks in better form than when last seen in a handicap, while Charlie Luciano would also be feared should he get his favoured good ground.
17:35 – Straight Home
As is often the case in these maidens, not many warrant a second look. STRAIGHT HOME posted a pretty decent RPR in winning her bumper at Cork and going up in trip for her hurdling debut is an obvious move for this 3m point winner. A similar comment applies to Sleep Sound, whose initial effort reads particularly well. Hurricane Honey is the other one to bear in mind.
18:05 – Ranger Billy
Top of the list is RANGER BILLY whose consistency ticks a big box and his latest effort at Tramore can be upgraded. Millies Dream makes the shortlist with cheekpieces now discarded, along with Storm Mahler, Walk In Time and Delias Pet.

18:35 – Tullyhogue Fort
A few of these need good ground. TULLYHOGUE FORT won’t mind what the weather does and returns to hurdling off a fair mark after a near miss over fences last time. Rewrite The Script is respected back in a handicap after showing more in maiden company. Nasee and Sarah’s Soldier can also feature.
19:05 – Visionarian
The weights favour Mt Leinster to the tune of 8lb. However, the Galway Plate fifth VISIONARIAN, a smart novice last season, may be able to cope with the Mullins runner whose two chase wins were obtained the season before last. Talented mare Effernock Fizz has been out of sorts lately
19:35 – Misty’s Gift
A trappy chase with no outstanding contender. MISTY’S GIFT had some flashes of good form over hurdles despite his maiden status and he’s bred to make a chaser. Takarengo is respected despite the frustrations of the past two years, while Tempo Chapter Two has a race of this nature in him.
20:05 – Baby Kate
A few of these have hinted at winning potential but it doesn’t look a strong race and the eyes are naturally drawn to BABY KATE, who looks the part on paper. Smiling Bess made a pleasing start at Roscommon and edges second preference over Wild Mandate and Lady Masquerade.
