Punting Hall of Fame: Crystal Palace’s 2-0 win scoops one Dublin punter a massive €132k

Two very optimistic accumulators clicked for one lucky Dublin punter tonight as Crystal Palace and Paddy Power's Barca Payout helped him scoop €132k. You Beauty!

Take a bow pal. One Dublin punter was sat on a huge decision today. After placing a €10 10-fold and a €20 eight-fold, he just needed a Crystal Palace win away to Bournemouth to scoop more than €132k and really see January off in style.

We wouldn’t have blamed him if he’d cashed out. There was a combined cash out total of €33k on the two accumulators and Palace hadn’t won away in nine games in all competitions. It would have been easy to take the money and run rather than rely on Bid Sam Allardyce’s men. We put the question to our readers, and the majority urged him to cash out.

However this punter stood firm, and thanks to goals from Scott Dann in the 46th minute and Christian Benteke in stoppage time, he is now precisely €132,789 richer. And he has balls the size of watermelons.

You can see both bets below. His €10 10-fold returned around €44.5k, with the €20 eight-fold scooping him a monster €88k.

Of course, this plucky punter did have lady luck shining down on him in a serious way…

  • He needed a 90th minute leveller from Monaco’s Bernardo Silva at PSG to secure the draw
  • He was sweating on a two-goal comeback from Sampdoria who won 3-2 at home to Roma
  • Even more incredibly, he managed to get a three-goal revival from Borussia Monchengladbach – who scored three times in the second half to claim a 3-2 victory at Bayer Leverkusen having been 2-0 as early as the 34th minute
  • Plus, he had to thank Chievo’s Roberto Inglese for netting the winner in the 90th minute away at Lazio

If that’s not all – this punter even had Barcelona in one of his punts, and they didn’t even win! They drew 1-1 with Betis, but after having a perfectly good goal disallowed because there’s no goal-line technology in La Liga Paddy Power decided to pay out on Barca as winners anyway.

It’s an incredible punt – with the perfect cocktail of skill, luck and Paddy’s generosity. You Beauty!
