Imagine you placed a Lucky 15 and then went four or five hours without knowing you’d won over £33,000 off it?
Well that’s exactly what happened to James from Glasgow, who’s an absolute FANATIC when it comes to all things NFL and is a long-suffering Washington Redskins fans.
Early this morning James came in late and started watching the NFL RedZone highlights programme he’d recorded, only to quickly realise he was in line for an amazing pay out from his £60 stake.

James saw his Texas-sized bet touchdown after he correctly guessed four first touchdown scorers in Sunday’s 6pm (UK time) kick-offs.
However, it was after midnight before James ,51, started frantically fast-forwarding through RedZone when three of his four first touchdown picks landed in the opening five minutes of their respective games.
They may be known for a defence meaner than Lord Sugar, but it was the Denver Broncos offense who punted Paddy up the backside when Devontae Booker smashed his way into the endzone to give his side a 6-3 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars and seal a whopping pay out for James.

Speaking to the Paddy Power Blog James explained he’d been a huge NFL fan since the 80’s: “Back when Channel 4 first started showing it in the 80’s, the first game they I saw was the Redskins and Dallas. My brother went with the Cowboys, I picked Washington – so I’m about a 40-year Redskin fan,” said James.
James also said such was the magnitude of the win, he had to ring Paddy Power to check how much he’d pocketed.
“I hadn’t actually counted it up in my head as it was running on, but I knew it was a good return. It happened quite quickly, it’s not like the horses where you’re waiting on the last race of the day.
“The first touchdowns tend to happen rapidly, but I don’t know it was as much as it was when I counting up. I had to ring you guys to check it was up, I’m chuffed with the win especially being so close to Christmas.”

Asked on his plans to spend the money, the Scot confirmed he’d an exotic birthday gift planned for his wife/NFL widow!
“It’s a special birthday for my wife next year and she wants to go Hawaii for it, so the win will probably pay for the holiday. It will be in a Christmas envelope for her.”
We’ve dusted videos some of James’ winning scores through the piece, however here’s a summary of his picks.
- Rams @ Patriots – LeGarrette Blount first TD 6/1. The New England man grabbed it with a 43-yard rush with 4.22 gone in the opening quarter.
- Dolphins @ Ravens – Terrance West first TD 17/2. West caught a pass from Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco to run in from three yards and score first after just 4.02 of the first quarter.
- Chiefs @ Falcons – Devonta Freeman first TD 17/2. Freeman got his Atlanta outfit on the board first with a seven-yard run into the endzone with only 4.53 gone in quarter one.
- Broncos @ Jaguars – Devontae Booker first TD 15/2. As mentioned above, Booker waited until just over five minutes into the second quarter to batter his way through multiple tackles and became a hero forever to James.
£33,000, not bad for Sunday’s work eh?
