Paddy Power’s top 5 vines of all time

There some utter classics here as Twitter set to shut down Vine for good

Twitter’s announcement yesterday that it’s going to shut down Vine, the video-sharing app it runs, has left users mourning the loss on social media.

Vine first came into existence in January 2013 and it was used by people to make creative short, six second video offerings to share on Twitter.

In a statement Twitter confirmed it will stop Vine’s mobile app over the next few months, but it will leave its website for people to continue to view their previous vines.

At Paddy Power we did love a good vine, so we’ve pulled out our five most viewed of all time for you to enjoy.

1. Gareth Southgate at his most boring – Over 1.7m views

The England caretaker manager isn’t exactly known from being charismatic, but our vine followers couldn’t get enough of him being asked about his drinking habits.

Of course he preferred “mostly water”!

Never change Gareth

2. Harry Kane the wizard – Nearly 1.5m views

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been carrying the North London outfit on his back for a while now.

Kane notched a whopping 28 goals in all competitions last season, which just added to his already magical reputation.

His wizardry on the pitch for Spurs, led to this glorious Harry Potter inspired offering off it!

3. Sepp Blatter in the Crystal Dome – Close to 1.1m loops

Disgraced former FIFA president Sepp Blatter lent himself to a brilliant vine after being showered with fake dollar bills at a press conference by comedian Lee Nelson.

The vine featured a brilliant mash-up of Blatter and legendary Crystal Maze host Richard O’Brien to symbolise Sepp in the Crystal Dome.

Altogether now – da da da, da da!

4. Those annoying five-aside pellets – seen by 400k plus people

The bane of many an amateur football players existence, the black pellets from plastic pitch seem to get bloody everywhere!

Recognising that, the clever (and handsome) guys from our social media team knocked together this snappy vine of all places they turn up.

Somebody grab the hoover!

5. Steve Bruce and Christmas food – almost 250k loops

Current Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is well known for his healthy appetite… for life!

To be fair he’s actually looking quite well those days, but it will only be a matter of time before Villa drive him back to the gravy pot.

One of his press conference fit perfectly into this food advert, hold onto your sides people!
