When are the Oscars 2023? How many Irish nominations for this year’s Academy Awards?

The Irish have taken over Hollywood!

Ireland has bagged a record-breaking 14 nominations for this year’s Oscars… they might as well move the ceremony to Dublin!

Martin McDonagh’s black comedy The Banshees of Inisherin has shattered the record for most nominations for an Irish film after receiving the nod in nine categories including Best Picture and Best Actor for Colin Farrell.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Normal People star Paul Mescal is also in the running for Best Actor for his role in Aftersun, while record-breaking Irish-language flick An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl) is up for Best International Feature Film.

You can’t keep Paddy away from the cinema and he’s so chuffed with the number of Irish nominees that he immediately tasked his trusty traders with pricing up betting markets for the Oscars.
