Jasmine Paolini wiped the floor with Emma Navarro in the quarter-finals and is now the favourite to reach her second Grand Slam final of 2024.
The Italian stays true to her philosophy in every match and it seems to work regardless of the type of player she is up against. It took the ‘Queen of Clay’ Iga Swiatek to deny Paolini at Roland Garros, and while Donna Vekic has a decent grass court pedigree, she may not have enough to cause the upset on Thursday.
Paolini has won the first set in each of her matches at SW19 this year, while Vekic has had to come from behind twice and only has one straight sets victory to her name.
The seventh seed can keep up her streak of starting fast, and while Vekic will do her best to launch a fightback, fatigue might take its toll on the Croatian.

While Paolini has a perfect five-from-five record in opening sets at the All England Club this month, not all of them have been straightforward. Among those wins are two tie-breaks and a 7-5.
She was broken first versus Navarro and also dropped a service game in the first set against Madison Keys. Vekic will be at her physical best at the beginning of the match, and while I expect her to fall just short, she’ll make a good fist of it early doors.

Barbora Krejcikova v Elena Rybakina – Elena Rybakina -4.5 game handicap
Elena Rybakina looks untouchable. As early as round one, she quietly ominously quashed any doubts over her fitness, and her passage to another Wimbledon final has appeared increasingly inevitable as the tournament has gone on.
Where other leading contenders have faltered, the 2022 champion has improved with each match. The Kazakh’s second-round encounter against Laura Siegemund wasn’t pretty but she has been at her hard-hitting best in her three outings since.
Barbora Krejcikova has won both previous meetings between this pair, but Rybakina wasn’t ranked in the top 16 on either occasion. It’s a different story now, and the grass court specialist can dominate the Czech.

Rybakina has blown away her last three opponents – all of whom were worthy challengers. Entertaining the possibility of a similar outcome here is not disrespectful to Krejcikova.
The Kazakh has dropped a total of nine games across her last three matches, hitting 89 winners to 48 unforced errors in that time. A ratio like that in the semi-final would cause all sorts of problems for Krejcikova, who is yet to face that kind of onslaught en route to the last four.
This bet is a long shot for a reason, but if Rybakina can get her first-serve percentage back to where it was against Caroline Wozniacki on Saturday (69 per cent), it could go close.
