1pm: Jelena Ostapenko v Barbora Krejcikova – Ostapenko to win 1st set and win match

It hasn’t been the most difficult run to the quarter-finals for Jelena Ostapenko. The Latvian has only dropped 15 games all tournament, and she will be starting to dream of a women’s singles title at SW19 10 years on from her junior triumph at the All England Club.

Ostapenko’s explosive style of play has been impossible to deal with during the Championships, and Barbora Krejcikova may suffer the same fate on Wednesday.

That was indeed the case when they last met in Birmingham in June 2023. Ostapenko’s straight sets success that day took her overall head-to-head record versus the Czech player to 5-2, and I expect her to extend her lead on No. 1 Court and reach the semis.

1:30pm: Elena Rybakina v Elina Svitolina – Rybakina -1.5 set handicap

Oddsmakers have installed Elena Rybakina as the clear favourite to lift her second Wimbledon title in the space of three years, and that is completely justified.

The Kazakh is hitting the ball cleaner than anyone in the draw and when her first serve has landed in this tournament, she has won the point more than four times out of five.

Elina Svitolina took out two-time back-to-back finalist Ons Jabeur in round three and shouldn’t be taken lightly. But Rybakina beat her 6-4 6-3 at the French Open last month and a similar scoreline would be no surprise on a surface the fourth seed excels on.

3pm: Lorenzo Musetti v Taylor Fritz – Musetti +4.5 game handicap

Lorenzo Musetti is one of the most improved men’s players on grass this year and he could be a real handful for Taylor Fritz.

Having reached at least the semi-finals of both of his warm-up grass court tournaments, Musetti is one victory away from achieving the same at SW19. The way he dealt with the huge serve of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard – generating 15 break points and converting five of them – was particularly encouraging.

While Fritz’s skill set is far broader than that of Mpetshi Perricard, Musetti has been excellent in the most important moments at the All England Club and won’t allow the American to pull away and win comfortably.

Fritz must also overcome the mental block of having never won a quarter-final at a Grand Slam in three attempts. This is his best chance yet, but with that comes added pressure that he has yet to prove he can deal with.

3:30pm: Alex De Minaur v Novak Djokovic – Djokovic wins the match and both players win a set

Novak Djokovic’s words have made more headlines than his actions this week, but his mind will need to be fully focused on the task at hand in his quarter-final tussle with Alex De Minaur.

The seven-time Wimbledon champion felt that some sections of the Centre Court audience were against him in his straight-sets triumph over Holger Rune, and he might be in for more of the same versus De Minaur who said he would be happy to take on the mantle of honorary Brit for the remainder of the competition.

Djokovic leads the head-to-head 2-1 but they have split the two matches played this year. De Minaur can take inspiration from his 6-4 6-4 success in their meeting in January and force four or five sets, but causing the upset might be too much of an ask – especially given the injury concerns surrounding the Australian.
