Tennis Tips: Our 9/1 Wimbledon Day 6 acca featuring Djokovic and Dart in key battles

It's Day Six at Wimbledon and our tipster Ben Smith has backhanded over a cracking Acca.

Novak Djokovic hits a tennis ball at Wimbledon

Wimbledon betting tips

11:00 – Harriet Dart v Xinyu Wang – Wang -3.5 game handicap
13:00 – Bernarda Pera v Jelena Ostapenko – Ostapenko -4.5 game handicap
13:30 – Cameron Norrie v Alexander Zverev – Norrie to win at least one set
17:30 – Alexei Popyrin v Novak Djokovic – Djokovic 3-0

11am: Dart v Wang – Wang -3.5 game handicap

Lots of eyeballs have been on Harriet Dart at this year’s Championships, particularly when she defeated her compatriot Katie Boulter on No. 1 Court.

But while Xinyu Wang’s progress hasn’t attracted as many headlines, it has been more impressive. She hit 12 winners against three unforced errors in the final set of her victory over fifth seed Jessica Pegula on Thursday – delivering her best tennis when it mattered most.

Dart deserved the plaudits for her comeback win on the same day, but it was largely down to Boulter’s mistakes. Wang is unlikely to let her off the hook in that fashion.

1pm: Pera v Ostapenko – Ostapenko -4.5 game handicap

When Jelena Ostapenko followed up her French Open title success by making the Wimbledon quarter-finals as a 20-year-old in 2017 and went one better 12 months later by reaching the semis, it looked as though she would be a contender at the All England Club for years to come.

Instead, a slide down the rankings came next and the Latvian was not seen in a major quarter-final again until the 2023 Australian Open. She has been moving in the right direction since, though, and is showing signs of a return to her previous form on grass.‌

The world number 14 has barely broken a sweat at SW19 this year, dropping just six games. She should have too much for 97th-ranked Bernarda Pera.

1.30pm: Norrie v Zverev – Norrie to win at least 1 set

The crowd was almost stunned into silence at times by Cameron Norrie’s comfortable triumph over Jack Draper. It certainly wasn’t in the script, as it was Draper who came into the all-British affair in better nick, winning eight of his last nine matches beforehand.

You have to take your hat off to Norrie, who has had a tough time on-court since lifting the Rio Open trophy in February 2023.

Alexander Zverev is currently second in the Race to Turin and has played fantastic tennis so far this week, but I’m surprised to see such a palatable price about Norrie to simply win a set. The 2022 semi-finalist at SW19 will give Zverev his biggest test so far.

5.30pm: Popyrin v Djokovic – Djokovic 3-0

This is the first time that Alexei Popyrin has advanced to round three of Wimbledon, and it’s not a bold prediction to suggest that Novak Djokovic will have too much for the Australian.

We are, however, able to get a nice price on the Serb to win in straight sets, which given how effective his serve has been on this service, makes for an appealing bet.

Popyrin saved 10 of the 13 break points he faced against Tomas Martin Etcheverry and that proved to be the difference in their five-setter, but he won’t be able to rely on those heroics against the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
