Begu v Blinkova – Blinkova to win at least one set

An interesting match up here sees Anna Blinkova (Rus #40) face Irina-Camelia Begu (Rou #30) for the 4th time in their careers. Begu has won two of those with Blinkova winning the only time they faced each other on grass in straight sets.

Begu has not played much tennis this year on grass, playing just once in her Wimbledon opener which she won 2-1. Blinkova has won four of her six games on grass this year losing to World number 1 Swiatek, and fellow Russian Avanesyan. We fancy Blinkova to win this match and may be worth a single bet at but Blinkova to win a set looks very good to us for a multiple.

Niemeier v Galfi – Niemeier to win

German and WTA number 103 Jule Niemeier faces Dalma Galfi from Hungary who is ranked 126th. The ladies have faced each other once previously where Niemeier won with relative ease in straight sets. This will be the first time they face each other on grass with Niemeier odds on favourite to win after reaching the Quarter-Final here last year.

Niemeier moved up to 61st in the rankings before a poor run where she lost 17 of 22 games. She has however won four of her last five, losing to Marketa Vondrousova through retirement. Galfi has always struggled at Wimbledon and we anticipate Niemeier will have too much for her here and progress to the next round.

Kubler v Jarry – Both Players to win a Set

Another exciting match up sees Australian and ATP #77 Jason Kubler facing Nicolas Jarry (CHI #28). This will be the first time the men face each other. Kubler has won eight of his 11 games since the start of June whilst Jarry has won three of his five. Jarry won with relative ease in his Wimbledon opener in a match he would have expected to win in straight sets, whilst Kubler won a five-set thriller against 39th seed Ugo Humbert in a near four-hour match.

Kubler is the more comfortable player on grass and recently won his first title of the year winning the Ilkley Challenger. Jarry is the odds on favourite here and will be the fresher of the two players, but we fancy Kubler to cause an upset and both players to win at least one set.

Norrie v Eubanks – Eubanks to win at least one set

British top seed Cameron Norrie (13th) faces Amercian Christopher Eubanks who is 43rd seed in what looks set to be a great match. This will be the first time the men face each other and both come into Wimbledon in great form and both won their opening matches 3-1. Norrie is the favourite and will have the advantage of the home crowd  behind him, but this shouldn’t phase Eubanks who is high in confidence following a run of six victories.

Norrie has won five of his previous six games, only losing to Korda who is also from the US and ranked 25th. Norrie reached the Wimbledon semi final last year losing in 3-1 to Novak Djokovic. Norrie is rightfully the big favourite here, but we fancy Eubanks to take at least a set.
