11am: Boulter v Saville – Katie Boulter to win

Katie Boulter, representing Great Britain (WTA #89), opens her campaign against Australian Daria Saville (WTA #231). The ladies have faced each other before, 18 months ago in Australia on hard surface, where Saville ran out 2-1 winner with the home advantage. Boulter will be seeking revenge here and this time will have the home advantage and her preferred surface.

Boulter won eight of 11 matches played in June and won her first WTA title at the Nottingham Open. Boulter heads into Wimbledon in great form and is the No.1 seeded British woman. Saville played twice in June, both against higher ranked opponents, winning one and losing the other. This isn’t as straightforward as it may seem for Boulter, given Saville beat her last year, but one where we expect her to make her form and home advantage count and progress to the next round. It’s Boulter to Win here.

3.30pm: Peniston v Murray – Under 33.5 Match Games

Two time Wimbledon champion and British hero Andy Murray starts his campaign against fellow Brit, Ryan Peniston. This will be the first time the Brits face each other and one where Murray (ATP #40) will be expecting to progress with ease against Peniston (ATP #268). Murray was not seeded coming into the tournament and was lucky to avoid the higher ranked opposition, whilst Peniston was entered as one of seven Wildcards given to the hosting nation.

Andy Murray has played well coming into the tournament, where he won 10 matches in 13 days. Peniston played seven games in June, winning three and losing four. Andy Murray needs to progress here and with as few complications or energy used as possible. We see Murray doing exactly that against an opponent who shouldn’t be able to cause too many problems so it’s Under 33.5 Total Match Games.

4.30pm: Zhang v Van de Zandschulp – Both Players win a Set

Zhizhen Zhang representing China (ATP #52) faces Dutch Botic van de Zandschulp (ATP #44) In what looks a very interesting matchup that could go either way, just as the odds suggest. This will be the first time they face each other so there is no head-to-head data to study, however, Zhang enters the tournament higher in confidence of the two and is playing the better tennis.

Van De Zandschulp enters Wimbledon on the back of a seven game losing streak, five of which were against lower ranked opposition. It is worth noting that only two of those games were on grass but the form may affect the psychology heading into this opener. Zhang hasn’t exactly been in the best form either, but has faced higher ranked opponents and won two of his last three games on grass, losing to 19th Ranked Argentinian Cerundolo. Both Players to Win a Set seems the most likely outcome here at a price worthy of adding to a multiple bet.

5.30pm: Udvardy v Sabalenka – Under 16.5 Match Games

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (#WTA 2) plays her 5th competition, where she will be hoping to go better than 2021 when she reached the Semi-Final. Panna Udvardy (WTA #82) representing Hungary, will be facing Sabalenka for the first time and would’ve been hoping for a more favourable draw.

Udvardy is a Clay specialist and has only played seven of her 500+ career games on grass, losing five of them. Last week she faced Bogdan on grass and lost 2-0. Aryna however is a very powerful player and suited to the grass game. Sabalenka should progress here with relative ease, in straight sets. The price for a straight sets win was not worth adding so we have decided to take Under 16.5 Games.
