TUESDAY ACCA
Karen Khachanov v Sebastian Korda – Sebastian Korda to Win
Jessica Pegula v Victoria Azarenka – Jessica Pegula to Win 2-0
Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jiri Lehecka – Stefanos Tsitsipas to Win & Both Players to Win a Set
Quarter finals now and the tournament is really entering the business end. Two closely ranked players but the higher ranked American Korda is very hard to oppose in his current mood. He’s walked through every round so far, beating world number 8 in straight sets and world number 11 in a gruelling 5 set match in the last round. The two have met 3 times with Korda winning the last two in straight sets and the 22 year old is expected to progress again here to the semi finals.
Jessica Pegula v Victoria Azarenka
9am: Jessica Pegula to Win 2-0
Jessica Pegula, world number 3 is now the favourite for the Women’s Open and rightly so as she is playing some beautiful tennis at the moment. She has won 8 straight since the turn of the year and every single match she has won in straight sets, including beating world number 1 6-2 6-2 on the 6th of January. These two also met last year with Pegula winning 2-0 and although it is likely to be a close game it’s very hard to make a case for Victoria Azarenka who had a massive task to beat the American in this form.
10.30am: Stefanos Tsitsipas to Win & Both Players to Win a Set
World number 4 Tsitsipas is heavily fancied to progress as you’d probably expect but this game could end up being a lot closer than people anticipate. They’ve met once before with Tsitsipas winning 2-1 in a close game and the underdog from the Czech Republic has beaten some very good players so far including Cam Norrie and Auger-Aliassime. In his current form he is great value to take a set from the world number 4 who has dropped some sets already in this tournament.
