Marton Fucsovics (#78 Hun) faces Jannik Sinner (#16 Ita) in the Australian Open in the 1/16 Finals. The men faced each other in the Australian Open 2020 when Fucsovics won in straight sets against a very young and inexperienced Jannick Sinner, this time it will be very different. Sinner is now ranked 16th in the World and is a huge favourite to progress here. Fucsovics will take confidence from beating Sinner though in 2 of the 3 times they have faced each other and we see him taking at least 1 set here.

Two Americans meet here in the last 16 and it’s hard not to be impressed with 18 year old Gauff who is ranked number 7 in the world at such a young age, she really could be a superstar in years to come. She has won her last 7 games in straight sets including eliminating Britain’s Emma Raducanu in the last round 2-0. Pera world number 41 is in good form herself but is up against it here and the youngster Gauff is going to be difficult to stop.
Friday 4:30am: Cameron Norrie v Jiri Lehecka – Norrie -5.5
These two met recently in the last 8 of the Auckland warm up when Norrie went on to win 2-1 with a 4 game margin and it’s difficult to see much changing here in such a short space of time. Norrie, world number 12 looks to be a serious challenger for this tournament and will fancy his chances of progressing here against a lower ranked opponent than he met last time. Take Norrie with the spread to get this done.
Friday 8am: Hubert Hurkacz v Denis Shapovalov – Both Players to Win a Set
Hubert Hurkacz (#11 Pol) faces Denis Shapovalov (#22 Can) in what looks set to be a great game of tennis. They have faced each other 4 times previously, all on hard ground, with Hurkacz winning 3 and Shapovalov winning 1. Hurkacz is the higher ranked player and won the last head-to-head, however there may be some fatigue after a 5 set thriller against Sonego in Round 1. Both players will fancy their chances of progressing here in a tight game.
