2pm: Halep v Zheng – Under 19.5 games, Halep to win 2-0

Halep should win this one convincingly. Qinwen Zheng has struggled on the clay courts so far this season and she had to qualify for the Australian Open in her maiden season on the WTA.

WELCOME TO PADDY POWER NEWS!

These two have met before at the Melbourne 250 where Halep won 6-3, 6-2. Halep’s in good form now, reaching the Madrid quarter final, and had a very good tournament in Dubai.

She looks certain to power her way to a convincing victory.  The Under 19.5 games market looks value here, along with Halep to win 2-0, as this should be a convincing victory for the Romanian.

4pm: Rublev v Delbonis – Rublev to win & both players win a set

The last time these two met in 2021 Andrey Rublev beat Federico Delbonis 3-1 on the grass in Nottingham and the world No.7, Rublev will have too much again.

His performance in Belgrade would suggest he’ll have a good tournament. But in his last 29 ‘Best of 3 sets matches’ – 13 have gone the distance. This shows Rublev’s is potentially susceptible to conceding sets.

Federico Delbonis reached the 4th Round at Roland Garros last year and has the talent to pick up a set. I like the look of Rublev to Win and Both Players To Win a Set.

7.45pm: Cornet v Ostapenko – Ostapenko to Win 2-1, Over 21.5 Games

Alize Cornet recently reached the 2022 Australian Open quarter final, beating Halep on route to her highest Grand Slam finish. Cornet and Jelena Ostapenko have met four times, sharing two wins each, and that alone suggests this should be a close contest.

My main concern is Cornet’s record on clay. She’s never got past the second round yet in her career. Ostapenko, a previous Roland Garros champion, has a great chance to win this after having a very good winter in the Middle East on the hard courts. She also looked faultless in her 1st round match.

Both players struggled in Rome and Madrid, the two main clay court events, so that tells me this could go the distance. However, Ostapenko will have the big match experience to dump out another of the home favourites and I’d be looking to back Over 21.5 Total Match games along with Ostapenko to win 2-1.
