Monday 00:00: Danielle Collins v Elise Mertens – Collins to Win 2-0

  • TV: Amazon Prime Video

In what is expected to be a tight contest Danielle Collins takes on Elise Mertens, with the Belgian sitting just a few places above the American in the world rankings beginning the year. The two players have faced-off twice before, winning one game apiece, though Collins’ win came most recently in Chicago, in 2021 – winning in straight sets on hardcourt.

Mertens’ victory by comparison came some time ago, in the distant memory of 2018. This looks to have given Collins the slight edge as reflected in the betting for this one, though Mertens’ good start to the tournament and experience besting Collins at Wimbledon will certainly have her hopeful of a positive result. Both matches between these players have been won in straight sets and I expect this to be the same, with Collins seeing off the challenge 2-0.

Monday 03:00: Marin Cilic vs Felix Auger-Aliassime – Cilic to Win

  • TV: Amazon Prime Video

Felix Auger-Aliassime is the slight favourite when he takes on Marin Cilic, despite the latter holding a 3-0 H2H record over his Canadian opponent on a variety of surfaces. Cilic will enter this match in excellent shape having rocked Andrey Rublev in the previous round, continuing his excellent form from Adelaide. Cilic was particularly impressive in his win over the World No.6, producing 24 aces and broke the Russian on four occasions.

Auger-Aliassime comes into the tournament having led his country to the ATP Cup title and will be hoping to best his previous record at the Open by reaching the QFs. He has however had a tough start to proceedings in Australia, having to work hard for victory in his opening two rounds in matches lasting well over 3 ½ hours each. Taking his fatigue, and Cilic’s hot form into account you can’t help but feel the Croatian is in with a big shout of coming away with a victory here, and he looks like good value in the match betting market.

Monday 03:00: Maxime Cressy vs Daniil Medvedev – Cressy to Win at Least One Set

  • TV: Amazon Prime Video

Maxime Cressy will have it all to do when he takes on Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round, with the Russian World No.2 entering the match in some impressive form. Last years runner-up will be looking to further enhance his credentials but won’t be able to call on a H2H record, with the two players never having faced off before.

Cressy’s chances are not fancied one bit all around, though he has been impressive in what is his first time making it beyond the sound round of a Grand Slam. Both players with will buoyed by their victories over home favourites in the lead up to the clash, but it is difficult to imagine Cressy pulling this one out of the bag even with his good form – though the big-serving American certainly has a skillset to make things tricky. Cressy well in with a shout to win at least one set here.
