Sunday afternoon sees two legends of the game go head to head for the 50th time on all surfaces with the cantankerous Djokovic, leading the series 27-22 dating all the way back to April 2006. More recent history between the pair has shown Djokovic to have the upper hand.
They’ve met three times in the last three years (twice in 2018), and all on hard court, with the Serb winning all three. The last time the pair met on grass was the 2015 Wimbledon Final with Djokovic winning 7-6 6-7 6-4 6-3.
Excluding historical matches (Federer’s 38 in August -in case you didn’t know) and looking at the figures from the pair’s more recent games, here’s the lowdown:
o Djokovic has won the first set in all three of their last encounters.
o Federer has won at least a set in two of the last three matches before eventually going on to lose.
o The Last three meetings between the pair have averaged 10.9 games per set.
So, what are we going for I hear you ask? Well, we’ve three best bets for the match. Given the above, Novak Djokovic to win the first set and the match feels like good value at 11/10. We do feel Roger will win at least one set in the middle so the 3/1 on the 3-1 set betting gets our nod too. Finally, taking that all into account, Over 41.5 total games should come good with the projected match games being 43.6.
