Wimbledon 2019: Serena and Elina to power through at 7/2

It's semi-final time at Wimbledon, and our traders foresee a Williams-Svitolina final

Serena Williams

Serena Williams v Barbora Strycova

Serena Williams

Strycova ended any hopes of a British winner in singles at Wimbledon this year when she chopped up Konta on Tuesday in a decisive enough 7-6 6-1 win on centre court. However, I’m not sure if her extensive variety of shots will be good enough to beat Serena in the semi-final.

Serena has dropped a few sets along the way but seems to be in her stride now, the mixed doubles has fine-tuned other aspects of her game, meaning she will only improve from here on.

Pick: Set Betting – Serena 2-0 – 4/6

Elina Svitolina v Simona Halep

Simon Halep

Svitolina has quietly manoeuvred her way through the tournament so far, staying under the radar and winning her last two matches in straight sets.

Halep, for her part, has defied grass court logic and made it into the semi with a game truly not suited to the surface. Her slow and high groundstrokes with a weak enough serve can be taken advantage of by an aggressive player like Svitolina in today’s bottom semi-final.

The only question mark is if Elina can hold her bottle and make it into her first grand slam final.

Pick: Match odds – Svitolina – 7/4
