Monte-Carlo Masters: Smash into three best bets for Wednesday’s play

Our tennis traders rarely miss the line with their punts and they’re back again to look at some bets for the great tournament in the principality…

Kei Nishikori to win 2-0 v Daniil Medvedev – 5/6

Nishikori showed some flashes of true class in a first round win over Tomas Berdych. Medvedev on the other hand just about edged out Marton Fucsovics in a tight three-setter. The Russian had a torrid clay court swing last year, losing each of the four games he played. Feliciano López beat him in straight sets here in Monte-Carlo last year and we believe a back-on-form Nishikori can get the job done in two straight sets here.

Rafael Nadal v Aljaz Bedene: Set 1 Total Games under 8.5 – 11/10

This one is as simple as it gets, the best clay court player of all time returns for his favourite part of the year. That’s why we’re backing him to win his first set of the clay season over Britain’s castaway Aljaz Bedene within nine games. There’s really not much else to say here…

Borna Coric to win a set v Novak Djokovic – 4/6

This is Wednesday’s match of the day without question. Novak looked to be a fading force in Miami and Indian Wells, with terrible losses to the limited Taro Daniel and the utterly brainless Benoit Paire. He showed some signs of returning to the Novak of old in a facile win over Dusan Lajovic in Round One here. However, the former world number one faces a much sterner test in Round Two against the rising Borna Coric. We’re staying within the line and we’re backing Coric to win a set.
