Injury woes a major worry for Murray – but odds back him to return with a vengeance

A tricky hip has put Andy on the shelf, however our traders believe the Scot can return better than ever…

Andy Murray’s decision to take the rest of the year off has sparked fears for his career – as, if any of us did that, we’d probably get the sack.

With his troublesome hip injury forcing the Scot to pull out of the US Open this month – and now the rest of the season’s calendar – some fans are worried that it might be the end of Murray’s career.

Paddy Power make it 5/1 that he will finish next year outside of the top ten, but a much shorter 5/4 that he’ll regain his world number one status in the future.

We’re also odds-on at 8/11 that he adds to his three Grand Slam victories – and 14/1 that he come back to tennis as well as he returns serve by winning the ATP Brisbane and Australian Open singles titles in January.

Asked about Murray injury time out spokesman Paddy Power said: “I know there’s a lot of worried fans regarding his injury, but I think Murray’s mint – and make him odds on to come back and win a Major.

“After all, he’s always been an excellent returner.”
