Smash into this 7/2 shot on the US Open quarter-finals

Things are starting to swirl at Flushing Meadows…

Petra Kvitová to beat Venus Williams – 4/6

Petra Kvitová scored a huge straight set win against the tournament favourite Garbiñe Muguruza and she’s one of the most dangerous players on Tour when she’s riding that confidence wave.

When you consider where she was 9 months ago, following a vicious knife attack in her native Czech Republic, it’s just amazing Kvitová is back at this level so soon.

And there’s no bigger motivation than the big arena against the crowd favourite. Venus Williams is playing great, but she showed many weaknesses against Carla Suarez. Kvitova is a very simple, ‘just go for it’ player who when she gets in her rhythm going just doesn’t give in.

Pablo Carreño Busta (-2.5) games handicap vs Diego Schwartzman – 8/15

Diego Schwartzman has done more than he could have ever dreamed of by getting to this stage and the beating his body took to accomplish that feat is starting to show.

It’s still hard to believe Lucas Pouille couldn’t manage to beat him, but he has no one to blame but himself.

Carreno was more than happy to see the German-named Argentinian next to his name in the draw and will look to continue his magnificent form at Flushing Meadows.

Sloane Stephens (-2.5) games handicap vs Anastasija Sevastova – 5/6

Anastasija Sevastova scored a huge upset against Sharapova, but that was mainly due to poor fitness level from the Russian who is still looking for a return to her golden form.

Maria looked comfortably up and in control of the match when she simply ran out of “juice”.

We backed Stephens several times during her winning return and will continue to do so while she displays top form.

The American will again count on huge support, but with the confidence she’s playing with at the moment she might not even need it.
