S Stephens to beat D Cibulkova @ 8/11

Stephens has found her form after being away for a while due to injury and she looks very impressive. Although Cibulkova is a top player, in current form Stephens is definitely the favourite to win this one. Cibulkova struggled against Cepelova, which should have been an easy match for her on paper, while Stephens continued her strong form with a relatively simple win over Vinci.

Cibulkova is also coming here after a very tough loss in the final of New Haven where she lost a match she should have won by all accounts. Considering her strong form since the comeback, we’re backing her to take this match without too much difficulty.

Chung v Isner – Over 40.5 total games @ 10/11

Very hard to not see this match going at least four sets and considering Isner’s style of play, it would be next to impossible that this goes to four and doesn’t go over the total line. The most powerful server on tour is in great shape but he has played a lot of tennis lately and Chung is a very talented lad who will definitely take any opportunities that come his way. Expect a very tight encounter where also betting on a first set scoreline of 7-6 for either player @ 6/4 represents very good value.

K Anderson v E Gulbis – Over  37.5 total games @ 5/6

This line looks almost hard to believe bearing in mind the quality of these two players and Anderson’s playing style. The big-serving South African is used to playing tight sets, so if big underdog Gulbis managed to take a set here, going over this total would be a certainty. The former bad boy of tennis (before Kyrgios took that title away from him) started getting his grip together during Wimbledon by beating Del Potro and putting up a good fight against Djokovic.

But recent losses to Youzhny and Fucsovics reminded us why Gulbis is not to be trusted too much. However, this is a slam and if there’s one place the Latvian will be motivated, it’s a tournament with big prize money and lots of points to win, especially in circumstances where plenty big guns are absent.

C Garcia – 4.5 games handicap vs E Alexandrova @ 8/11

Garcia is a very talented French player who has some big wins under her belt and is able to hold her own against top girls more often than not. Alexandrova on the other hand has some qualities but will likely never be at the level of Garcia or close to it.

She has some decent performances but winning only three games against Wozniacki in Toronto is the best possible preview of what should happen here. She got very lucky with the first round draw here and took advantage of that, but this is the end of the road for her and Garcia will make sure that’s done quickly.
