The Eurovision Song Contest returns this year and we’ve got all the information ahead of the event including the date of the final and the odds of each contestant.
Held annually since 1956, Eurovision is the world’s longest-running music competition and brings together countries from across the continent seeing annual viewing figures into the hundreds of millions. Ireland are the joint-most successful country in the history of the competition with seven victories, while the United Kingdom have been taking part ever since the second edition of the competition in 1957.
The event was hosted in Liverpool last year following the second-placed finish of Sam Ryder. The 2022 winners, Ukraine, were unable to host the competition due to the ongoing conflict.
This year’s event is taking place in Malmo, Sweden after victory for artist Loreen in Liverpool. It’s a fitting location as 2024 marks 50 years since ABBA’s famous victory with their song ‘Waterloo’.
Ireland are being represented by singer-songwriter Bambie Thug whilst the United Kingdom’s hopes lie with Olly Alexander.
