Simon Cowell’s mysterious absence from the X Factor’s opening two live shows has prompted speculation over his future on the judging panel, with ex-judge Cheryl Cole much fancied to replace him.
We make Cowell a short price not to return to our screens this weekend (2/1), and 33/1 that he sits out the entire SERIES.
If he does, popular former contestant and mentor Cheryl – who appeared alongside Simon during the Judges’ Houses phase of the show – is amongst the favourites to replace him at 10/1.
Speaking of falls, the show has experienced plunging viewing figures, and is now just 5/2 not to return to ITV next year.
Adele-esque singer-songwriter Grace Davies remains Paddy Power’s favourite to win the show (6/4), ahead of Watford group Rak-Su (11/4), schoolgirl singer Holly Tandy (6/1), and siblings The CutKelvins (8/1).
Paddy Power said: “I’m glad to hear Simon’s better and back on his feet, but the X Factor isn’t without him.
“Apparently, the judging mogul sees his illness as a wake up call, and could prioritise things beyond sob story centred TV.
“If he doesn’t make it back, ITV will want a star name to replace him, and who better than Cheryl Cole?”
