Emmerdale murder – we make Gabby favourite in whodunnit storyline

Emmerdale, perhaps the most crime-ridden village in all of Yorkshire, is keeping Mr Plod busy again with last night’s revelation that the death of nurse Emma Barton – initially thought to be suicide – is being treated as murder by the police.

With fans of the soap speculating over who may have bumped off the nurse (literally – her body was found at the bottom of a viaduct), we’re offering odds on who killed her – making Gabby (Evens) the favourite, having been threatened by Emma just days before the mysterious death.

Son Ross (11/4), recently-discovered stepson Adam Barton (14/1), and Moira Dingle (33/1) are also in the frame.

Viewers of the ITV show saw police turn up to the funeral of Emma’s son Finn, who she accidentally shot whilst on the run, after doing forensic tests on her body and seeing signs of a struggle. He is priced at 66/1 to be the culprit despite being dead. This is a television soap, after all.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Soap fans love a good whodunit and with a number of characters having motive to kill Emma, it’s one that will cause a lot of debate for a while yet.

“We imagine this storyline will run and run with a few twists and turns along the way, probably right up until the Christmas Day episode, as that’s the day when most police forces in soaps tend to solve stuff. Not all heroes wear capes.”
