Ronnie O’Sullivan to win first frame
O’Sullivan’s push to win back his World Championship title is a huge narrative in the 2024 tournament. After winning the 2022 competition, O’Sullivan lost out to first time winner Luca Brecal in 2023, as he bids for an eighth world title in the coming days.
He didn’t break a sweat in his 10-1 Round 1 win over Jackson Page and followed that up with a tighter 13-7 victory against Ryan Day in the following round. The Rocket won the first six frames against Page and the first two over Day. Bingham won his first two frames against Gary Wilson in Round 1 but then lost the first two against Jack Lisowski.

O’Sullivan hasn’t fully clicked into gear just yet but the signs are there that he’s warming up. His wins over Page and Day both included opening frame wins with over 100 points pocketed.
He racked up three centuries in each victory too and Bingham conceded two centuries against in his narrow 13-10 win over Lisowski.

With Round 2 and the quarterfinals both set as the best of 25 frames, O’Sullivan will be confident of easing into the final four with minimum fuss, with Bingham only reaching the semifinals once since winning the World Championship back in 2015.
Bingham is expected to give O’Sullivan his toughest test of the competition so far, and the chance of a slower paced contest will allow his opponent to rack up some frames, with a mirror of his winning result against Day is an eye catching option.
