It’s that time of the year when Paddy goes snooker loopy as the World Championship rolls into town.

The top 16 players in the world rankings and 16 qualifiers will descend on the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield dreaming of winning the biggest prize in the sport.

Ronnie O’Sullivan was the top dog 12 months ago and ‘The Rocket’ is back again in a bid to claim the World Snooker Championship for a record eighth time

The World Snooker Championship is the most lucrative event on the World Snooker Tour and it’s fair to say there’s plenty of money on offer at the Crucible. The winner of this year’s tournament will head home with a cheque – hopefully novelty sized – worth a tidy £500,000.
