If you haven’t been following the World Snooker Championship since it began on Saturday morning, then you’ve already missed a massive shock.
That’s because world number one and three-time world champion Mark Selby has already been dumped out in the first round thanks to Joe Perry. There was another upset brewing this morning too as five-time Crucible winner Ronnie O’Sullivan trailed Stephen Maguire 6-3 heading in today’s session.
The Rocket capitalised on a few errors from Maguire to get things back 6-5, but made a mistake of his own by fouling on a snooker and looked to have given Maguire the 12th frame.
With the scores at 59-50 in O’Sullivan’s favour, Maguire needed both a somewhat regulation pink and the black to take the frame. However, the Scot would amazingly fluff his lines and a give O’Sullivan the easiest of tasks of winning the frame after leaving the pink hanging over the pocket.
The duo are currently locked at 7-7 at the time of writing and you can watch Maguire’s miss for yourself thanks to Eurosport UK here:
